Default V6 or GT???

After hearing what a lot of you have to say about modding the 3.8, I was wondering if I should just sell my sixer and buy a GT? Seems like the GT has more potential for power gains. What do you guys think???

Oh boy. lol Thishas the potentialto be a long longthread.

If itwere me I would have gotten a coupe to start with. I am not a fan of verts though. If you can afford a GT why not get one. The V6's are fun cars especially when you get some suspension on there. They do lack in power. You can fix the power problem though. I can not really say what I would do if I were in your situation. lol I like my car and I have some plans to make it a lot better and get it to where I want it at.

That is what you have to answer. What do you want out of the car? Not what someone else wants out of the car. When you decide what you want then you can decide whether you would ratherhave a GT or a V6

They both have there ups and downs if you really want performance go with the gt the six makes great power don't get me wrong, its just that you can't beat that v8 torque with with a 5 speed and a v6 with a supercharger with low boost can barley smoke a full bolt on gt. I love my 6 but i sometimes wish i had a gt thoe[&o]dang insurance. some might say iam wrong but thats my opionion thoe. Just get the gt dude youll be happy with the power and sound.

Gt has more potential but will most likely cost more than your sixer if you're talking about a new edge. I say go with the gt if you can afford it and the insurance.

I made the switch. You're gonna get a few sixer fanboys coming in here saying that GT's aren't anything special and knocking them and saying how much V6's have so much more potential. Yeah, there are a few really fast sixers out there, but look how many really fast GT's there are. Take a stroll over to the 4.6 forum and just hang around and look at some of the cars. That should help your decision.

Yeah and when will you ever need that much power? Keep your six, then buy a project car. I found a 2000 Mustang V6 With No engine or trans or tires for $2200. Bought that droped in my powerhouse 392 and use that for weekends. If its a DD for sure keep the 6. For me My Gt was $80 More for the mid-grade coverage with no add ons. $80 adds up over time, in a year you save a grand. Then gas, My sixer isnt as bad as my GT used to be, but there not that much different. After a year of savings from that you would have enough there to get a GOOD Used supercharger. So your about even. Then if you plan on keeping your car longer more and more for mods.

Of course the price will change for other people, thats just why i sold my GT, Im cheap, and the 6 looked better.

If your gona do all the mods yourself just keep the 6 and save labor. If not get a GT and keep it mildly stock. Labor is where the money is really.

I sold My GT for $14k, Bought My 2002 for $10K, Full Bolt-ons, gears, and my first supercharger and i used up all my money from my GT, faster then my 2000 and the 6er is an Auto

full coverage insurance for my gt is only 123 a month. v6 insurance is barely cheaper than that. insurance price will depend completely on your age. if your 21+ with a reasonable driving record insurance shouldnt change much going to a GT.

GT has more potential than a v6 as far as how much power it can make. dont get me wrong there are some fast v6's around here, but again this all comes back to you. what mods are you willing to do to the car? how much pwoer do you want and need? do you plan on racing it alot or just want a little more get up and go?

My insurence droped just over $140 when I went from a 98 sixer to a 95 5.0 lol, and I was 20 at the time.[8D] It's droped even more since then. I used to pay $890 every six months for liability only in my sixer. My 5.0 was originally about $740 every six months, now it's $640 and dropping, damn I love this "getting older" thing.

hey that's a fine lookin car you got right there! keep it for a while longer and see if it fits your needs. Then make a decision based on your personal driving experience.

Me I have a '98 v6 vert. its not that great shape but I care for it best i can. im poor, but as time goes by and I get my secondson through college (and the first one gets a job!) I'll probably go to GT, but it will be s197.
