Default RE: timing chain

ORIGINAL: neo8222

i have a 2000 mustang and i was wondering if i need to worry about changing my timing chains (its at 130,500 miles) i dont know if anyone changed it before or do the chains on mustangs not need replacing. ive heard both answers and i dont know what to believe.
Really the chain is not under very much load, & it runs clean in an oil stream. However if your worried about it you can check it. Allowable backlash is 6 degrees (I believe for these engines). Use the cam synchroniser (CMP synchroniser) to ascertain the crank rotation. With the CMP (sensor only) removed, make a line on the synchro housing at TDC clockwise, then reverse crank rotation VERY Slowly, untill the synchro vane JUST BARELY moves. If your 6* or less your good.
