i know on my old s10 he egr valve went bad, so i just took it off, plugged it up and what not, and it ran fine, but we didnt have emmissions tests here in florida =/

I would think if you "Check Engine" light does not come on I don't see a problem but don't quote me on that

split port swap with windstar intake. i have read that you have to delete the egr, not so sure about the pcv, but i haven't heard of anyone doing the swap and keeping both.

It depends on the county. If you are in one of the counties with an extended emissions inspection program, most certified inspection stations will not pass you with any CEL or SESL, no matter what the cause. Those testing machines are pretty sophisticated andinclude a code reader. And if you disconnect the battery or otherwise reset the computer, they will fail you until you have driven 50-100 miles after which the computer has completed its reset (again it better be reset with no errors). I live in Williamson county that has that extended emissions testing as part of inspection, they ding me for every little thing, so I've learned there's no getting around it.

The following is a list of safety items for all counties:

This next link tells you what additional emissions requirements are imposed on vehicles registered in specific counties where ozone (smog) is a problem:

most counties that check emissions will not pass you if anything that is part of the stock intake/exhaust system is removed or missing and not replaced with an (C)ARB legal part. that includes removing EGR equipment, installing eBay intakes, installing O/R midpipes, and installing LT headers (most LT's are not EGR equipped).

You will not pass in texas. I lived there for four years and had all my emissions stuff on all of my Mustangs. The get the engine warm prior to testing to make sure the EGR opens properly. It will have an effect on your A/F raito, and they will be able to pick that up.

PCV is a vital part of the ventilation system, it also prevents "blowback" into the crankcase/valve cover, which could damage the engine.

As for the EGR, if you turn it off the EEC will not conform to relevant emissions standards, I'd think you'll fail for sure!
