so i just went to look at an 02 stang. It only has 76,000 miles on it and the guy only want $3,500. I knew it had some body damage, but i didnt expect as much as it did.

what it needs is:
new hood.
new bumpers(front and back).
both quarter panels.
and a new wheel well for the front left tire.

it also pulls a small bit to the right, but i think thats because of the whell well hanging down and pressing it to the right.

it just got brand new tires installed and it has dual Flow Master 40's

Don't. All the new stuff it needs will add up to more money along with the $3500 he's asking where you can just buy one for cheaper and in good shape. If it were under 2k, I'd do it, but not for $3500.

Yeah, don't buy it. You can get a really nice one for around 4-5k. I don't know where you live but here in Cali there cheap! 3500 is way over priced especially needing quarters, possible front end work,alot of bs to deal with, don't do it. Even 2k with all those problems, I dunno! Good Luck!

 

I would say it is reasonable. Post up some more pics. The bumpers could just be replaced by aftermarket, along with the hood. What do you mean by wheel well? plastic part? Post some pics and if its good go to his house and tell him, $2800 right now. If he doesnt take it leave him your number and tell him he has a week to decide.

 

you can junkyard the parts for fairly cheap, but painting the entire car is not going to be cheap (your looking at 2grand for a good paint job).

you'll probably spend about a grand on the replacement parts, 2 grand on the paint job, front end will probably need an alignment which is why its pulling to the right, and any other misc. damage that might be hidden.

so your 3500 turns into 6500$ or more. and if it was in an accident to have all that body damage then your gonna have a 6500$ (or more) v6 with a salvage title. i would pay him 2g's or walk away. and make 100% sure the only damage is cosmetic.

 

i live in cali., sac area...i would put more pictures of it up, but he took the pics at such angles, it doesnt look like anythings wrong with it. He didn't tell me anything was wrong with it till this morning and i've been talking to him for about a week. Yes its just the plastic part of the wheel well. My family friend owns a mechanics shop up here and he told me i could bring it in and he would check the alignment and frame to see what the pull is. So i think ill do that, then offer him $2,500 and if he doesn't excpet that ill let the car be someone elses project. haha.

 

oh and the car wasnt insured when the kid crashed it, so its not a salvaged title yet, i just figured that the 6 grand im gunna have to put into it would even out.

 

So the wheel well is nothing then... just bend it back or rip it out. My buddys front fenders, cobra bumper(with new brakets,padding) and radiator were about $600 from the yard. and he only had to get the bumper painted which i had my old tech school paint. Looked great

 

yea my dads friends paint shop is goin out of business so i can prob. get a decent paint job for about $600. I, more worryed about all the other cosmetics..and i also forgot to mention that the airbags were deployed so thats another like $300.
