Default Big transmission trouble!!!

well i just installed my shift kit and now i cant get my tranny into gear........could this be due to a lack of fluid? I dont think so cause there is 8qts or atf in there but it isnt really registering on the dipstick? Still i dont think that is it......i believe that everything was reinstalled correctly and i dont know of anything that was left off. Any help would be much appreciated.

When you say you cant get into gear do you mean the shifter wont leave park?, or that you get it into Drive and it acts like its in Neutral?

You may not haveinstalled the valve body correctly to the shift lever in the tranny. If you did not get it in the proper position on the valve rod it will not go into Drive. If you installed thevalve body corectly you should be able to run the tranny through the gears by hand. Since you're unable to do this i'm thinking there is a good possibility that this is yourproblem.Drop pan, Move lever and watch rod motion. see if you have shift lever rod hookedup correctlyto the rod in valve body

Drop the pan and look at the end of the shift valve. It should be engaged to the shift lever and move along with it.
You have to unbolt the valve body and lower it a bit to reset this junction.
