Default Check Engine Light

My CEL came on when I was driving home from the city and I have no clue what could have caused it. My car seems to be running fine and there is no reduction in mpg's. My dad said it could just be a vaccum line or something. I dont really have the time to take it somewhere and get the code read. I think Im just gonna disconnect my battery until the computer resets itself and see if the CEL comes on again. Any suggestions would be great, not really expecting any since I have no clue what could have caused this.

well a great investment would be a tuner. You can pull codes yourself and reset the Check Engine Light too.It could just be a vaccum line like you dad has said.

Ford put CEL on cars for a reason. If yours in on, you need to get it checked out before something worse comes of it.

i know i say this all the time, but ill chime in again. goto autozone or advance auto. theyll scan tool your car for free, and diagnose what the trouble code means, and can most likely sell you the part you need to replace (most likely a sensor) there. good luck.

surely someone in your area has a tuner or a reader or something. could be something as simple as the gas cap not on tight enuff or could be something else more serious.
