my dad got about 1 extra mpg with his bbk intake.
and its a v6, your not gonna get a muscle sound.
the closest thing you'll get is with a full exhaust from heads to tail pipe with flowmaster/borla/magnaflow catback.

Damn, looks like only the 5.0 guys are giving advice.

There is a lot to this topic, use the stickies at the top of the page and or the search button. There are several sections in the stickies, and thousands of exhaust threads covering the exact same question. Do a little reading, or a lot, then come back with a more specific question.

If you want a muscle tone, I suggest you go buy a muscle car. A V6 will never sound like a V8. However you can make your sixxer sound good. Your choice of an O/R X or h-pipe, a cat back exhaust and maybe some headers depending on your budget. Most guys on here swear by the Super 40's and the force flows (basically flowmasters) to give you a good tone through out the range. Myself, i prefer magnaflows, they are not as dramatic at idle, but they hold tone very well throughout upper RPM's whereas other mufflers tend to get "ricey". But it is allabout what you like and what you think sounds good.

Well as long as you go true dual, and don't use MAC mufflers you'll have a decent sound. My top 5 mufflers by sound for sixers:

Magnaflow w o/r h pipe and long tubes
Borla w/ o/r h pipe
Magnaflow w o/r h pipe
Flowmasters w o/r h pipe and long tubes
Bassani w o/r h pipe

He said he didn't want a tuner sound...
That rules out every muffler in red, if the basanni's are straight through that rules them out also.
Mac and Flowmaster will give you a "muscle car type sound", magnaflow will give you a smoother sound that leans closer to the tuner side, borla will give you a nissan 350z type sound.

I have to disagree, and I only wish I had a clip of my old 98 with Mags[&o]. I agree with what you're saying, however, they do not go that much furthur smooth to make a sixer sound like a tuner. Hell listen to the clip of my 5.0, it doesn't push the damn thing that more smoother than Flowmasters, if anything, they allow the engine to hold a much better pitch up top.
