Default Qustions about possible issues....

A while back when I had a tune-up done the mechanic recommended have a throttle body service. What is that service? can I do it myself?

Also they said that my rear shoe rivots are loose? What are rear shoes? Can I fix that myself?

a throttle body service is most likely just cleaning up the throttle body, and dumping some sort of cleaner into it, to clean out the injectors and what not. yes, you can do it yourself...just get some cheap carb cleaner, spray it on a rag, and clean up inside the tb and butterfly valve real good. you can also dump some seafoam into the tb (and add it to the gas tank while u are at it), and itll be the same thing...and youll save yourself 40.00 or so.

unless you have a rivot gun I dont think youll be able to do that yourself. They sell rivot guns, or "pop" rivot guns at home depot, or lowes, that you can buy and try doing it yourself, but I would leave it to a pro. especially when dealing with the breaks...

1) DON'T spray anything into your TB. The blade is coated and you will do damage. I've never heard of TB 'service' before.
2) If your mechanic meant brake shoes... this combined with #1 means you need a new mechanic. Shoes are brake pads for drum brakes.

Did he also try and sell you turn signal fluid ??

Does your gas pedal stick at first when you push it, and then seem like it pops and moves? If it does, then you might need to clean the crap out of the TB.

It's impossible to have the rear shoes serviced. I'm 99% sure you have rear disc brakes, not drums.

No, my pedal seems fine, works smooth just like every car I've ever driven. Thats why I was confused about those recommendations from the mechanic. I'll check on the brakes though. Thanks for the help Xemeth!
