Does a Tachometer with a Shift Light give you an advantage, help you in races?? Is it worth the money to get it?

 

it doesn't exactly make you faster...just lets you watch the road instead of the tach. it's the safer way to go. also lets you dial in an exact shift point for optimum performance instead of just saying "here's a good time to shift"...

 

Drag racers use them, so they must be a good racing tool.

 

eh, doesnt help that much. it's not that hard to just look at the tach in the dash

 

Besides that, they look ricey. IMO, if you need a giant tach with a shift light, you don't drive your car enough. If you have a car that see's the dragstrip weekly, that's different.

 

They really only help a little. Its not necessary, but if your racing all the time it would give you a slight advantage. you would probobly be fine without one. There also expensive. Spend your money on a short throw shifter and you will be faster than having a shift light (and maybe cheaper)

 

why don't you hust get the shift light? then there is no big *** tach on your dash that is pointless if you already have a tach. and you might save some money
