wow, i have a rebuilt 69 camaro with a 396 bored out to a 402 in it, too many mods to list. Me and my dad built it, cammed, bored & ported and polished. Its not legal to take it out on the highway. A challengers one of my favorites also, but just because you drive one doesn't mean you can trash a kid whos doing the best with what he's got. So what if its an auto, lets help him make it better. We have a common enemy, those ricers who just love to pick on auto mustangs. I want this kid to show em what hes got. lets just be frickin proactive.

Haha v6 forum is the most entertaining by far.... All right 03stang... basically the Ford transmission is a "slushbox" as Jthorne so eloquently always puts it lol. 3-400 bucks for a tuner will fix your problemand firm up those shifts right, and it will also give you some extra ponies and torque.

My fault, I didn't mean to hit a nerve or anything. I wasn't deliberatly trying to be an ***, it just comes out that way sometimes. If you want to launch better in an auto, get a 2500- 3000 stall converter depending on how you drive the car, and a shift kit, you'll like the automatic better. GL

I believe the tuner will firm up your shifts and shift points along with numerous other things. As far as a stall converter goes, if you drag race your car or want to stall your car to launch harder off the line, a stall, or torque converter is what you need. With what you want, a tuner would probably be the best bet. Here is an article on what a tuner can do.

And why can't you take it on the highway? If it's a 69 camaro there's no smog, you shouldn't have a problem, or your gears are 530's or something? I run 456's for the track and run 391's for the street. It's kind of a pain to swap out but the 8 3/4 diff's pop right out the rear so it's not too bad. Don't take my personal opinions about ford tranny's personally, after all, it's just an opinion.

Oh man its cool, it just sounded like you attacked him...i felt like he might have been discouraged to drive a stang, not a automatic. (attack ford trannys all you want, i agree lol)No the camaros strictly strip, the days of cruisin to Quaker steak and lube are over for me, thats why we're buildin the gt. The gears are 456's but all we have is slicks, and were i live we aren't even allowed to start the car up without the police coming over, as you would imagine, she's loud with the l/ts and straight pipes. And thanks for helping this kid out with the stall converter...
