Default DTC

I was fliping through the digital readout the other day on my 2002 Stang and found that it gave me a trouble code of 5284. According to Mustangworld.com this is a Oil Pressure Switch Failure. What exactly is the switch and is it bad to keep driving it for about three weeks when it goes in for service or shoud I just bring it in now.

Were you doing any work around the throttle body or coil pack? Maybe the air intake tube? It sounds like an indirect code (I'm bad with codes). Check for hard to see plugs that you may have pulled out accidently like under the throttle body(which I have done before) and check all of your injector plugs. Sounds like an injector prob, but your car is too new to have a bad injector or switch, so look for a bad connection or unplugged injector. Good luck.

HAHAHA!!!! I fricking knew it! I did the same thing and had the same prob.
To clear the code, take the battery cables off for 30 minutes, (not sure if it needs 30 mins, but that's what I do), then after you hook them back up, it will reset, but if it doesn't right away, it will after 20 miles of driving. For some reason, some things take longer to reset then others.

Before you reset it run your car for 10 minutes and look at the oil pressure gauge thats the furthest to the right. It should be around the center maybe a little towards the h. If it isn't then you may have some problems with your oil system.

To reset it just take the negative battery cable off for 10 minutes. It shouldn't take longer than that to reset the codes.

Reseting the codes won't affect the computer at all. If the problem is still there the check engine light will come on again.
