Default power adders

So I'm nearly done with all my supporting mods on my '96. I'm finishing up my suspension this week, and now I'm starting to look at some serious power adders. I'm not too interested in swapping out my engine, but if need be, I can do it. My question is, should i go ahead and do a split port swap (P&P heads and intakes) and start looking into a m112 or possibly my own turbo kit? My brother has several turbos just laying around that he collected while he was in japan for dirt cheap. Or stick with the single port, do the P&P intakes, heads, and new internals. Then slap the m90 kit on there, or possibly my own turbo kit I know sticking with the single port and the m90 kit would most likely be the easiest route, but I would like to hear everyone's advice.Comments??? Suggestions???

mmmm. my vote is the split port swap and the m112 kit. i dont like turbos on non imports...but thats just me. and the m112 and split port swap will make waaay better numbers than the m90 kit on your single port.

it will also be a not so expensive route between the three. i think the turbo kit would be the most expensive, but if you kept your eyes open for used parts for the split port and m112 used parts, i think u could find some deals. good luck,.

If you are doing a roots blower (M90 or M112) don't waste money on port/polished intakes.

i dunno...mostly the sound. but also, a lot of my old import buddies had larger, dyno-queen turbos on their cars, and didnt make power until 3k rpm and higher..smaller turbos are of course quicker spooling and build up the boost faster, but if you are just gonna boost a few psi, i rather like the blower low end tq more than the high end power, if that makes any sense?

if not, well go with my original response, lol. i like the sound of a blower better on a domestic.

If it were me. I would probably go with the M90. The M90 can make decent power. Stock your car had 150 hp, even adding on just the M90 would give you roughly 70-75 hp. Add bolt-ons or a smaller pulley to the M90 and then you are getting some real good gains and it is a lot cheaper than doing a split-port swap and then doing a supercharger build on top of that. If money isn't an option then go for the M112 and split-port or the 4.2L.

What all do you have done to your car for supporting bolt-ons?

What did you do to your suspension?

Why does everyone seem to think that they need a 400hp supercharged V6 monster?I think it isgetting a bit rediculous that people think they need a fully p/p h/c/i supercharged 400hp car. They need to go out and drive a 300hp car that weighs 3-3500 lbs. That is usually more than quick enough for most people. Not mentioning the fact that most driver's can't use 400hp to its fullest.

no doubt, a turbo will always make higher figures than a blower....but eh, higher figures at higher rpm isnt always what one wants...ill take instant boost and a lot of low end for the street anyday.

I'm not looking for a 400 hp quite yet.I've driven 300+ hp cars plenty to know what i need. Right now I'm interested in putting down some decent numbers and join the boost club, I'm the onlyone in my family that isn't! One bro has nearly a stage 3 wrx, another with the srt-20s-13, pops has the solsitce gxp and the moms got the turbo bug lol.. Oh, songtrading i meant the m90 would be cheapersorry for the confusion. If i was going to do a 4.2L build, ehhh I would rather just swap the whole engine entirely. But if i was to do a split port, i would go ahead and and do the 4.2L build while i was stripping the engine down. Mods so far: O/R x-pipe, magnaflow catback, CAI, rebuilt the engine, stage 2 clutch, sprint springs(2") with tokico illuminas and the stang suspension C/C plates. 3.73 gears, t-lokand subframe connectorsare coming within the next twotothreeweeks.Imainly wanted the p/p intakes because mine have 120+k miles and just looking to upgrade. Suggestions about which route to take???

It is SR20det. They are fun little cars, especially when you turn up the boost.

Sounds like you have done your homework then. I would go with the M90. That way you could gain the s/c, gain power, a little supercharger whine. lol The M90 would probably be the cheapest route for you to go too.
