I bought a set of bullitt rims from a guy off a newer model gt mustang and was wondering how do you find out the rim width?

Read the back of the spokes. It'll tell you everything.

but you cant throw s197 rims onto a new edge/sn95 , you need an adapter... my rims are 17x8 and i threw 255s on the back and they fit pretty well, but i like the wider back look (wish i could get 295s/315s) even though it does slow you down. Will wheel spacers give you more of this look or will it look dumb?

The only way to look like you have wider tires is to actually have wider tires...

Adding wheel spacers will determine how the wheels sit in the wheel wells, not make the tires look wider.

ah, jeez, just please dont put those humongous wheel spacers on daytons on cut springs, like i saw everyone riding around on back in high school (thats early 90's). you know which ones im talking about, the ones where the INNER edge of the tires are flush with the fenders. :P if you do that, dont forget the cheap tint, the 300.00 kmart stereo system, and leaning your seat back to the point where just your fingertips touch the steering wheel. MAN, those were the days! *nostalgic tears*

Their is an Eclipse around here that has that done... They are riding around on little 13-14 inch rims whose inner edge sits nearly outside of the wheel well.
