Default CCRM question...

Hey everyone, I'm a noob that has a question about my CCRM... the car is a 2000 with the 3.8l 6.

The car no longer starts after sitting for a few months (bad Brian... I didn't mean to let it sit that long, but it was an unusually harsh winter in Wisconsin and I didn't want to take her out on the slushy, salt encrusted, pothole filled roads). I started checking things over, and isolated the problem to the fuel pump not engaging when I turn the key to the on position like it should. I grabbed my trusty Multimeter and hooked it up at the inertia switch... and only a split second, less than 1v spike when I turn the key on which disappears within a second. So, it appears to be the CCRM (I did the usual checking of the fuel pump fuse, etc.).

Anyway, I'm looking online since I don't want to shell out a few hundred for a CCRM from the dealer... does anyone know, would the CCRM in this ebay auction work in my v6: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-04...QQcmdZViewItem

I'll probably call my local dealership tomorrow and see if I can pry the answer out of them (I'll report back with whatever they say...) but I figured I'd come ask the experts to see if any of you know. Thanks in advance!

-Brian

Default RE: CCRM question...

As promised, my report back...

The dealer said I'd need a CCRM from a 3.8l engine - the fuel relay wouldn't be an issue, but some of the other components controlled by the CCRM would be affected by a CCRM from a 4.6l Mustang. Thanks, Ford, for bundling all of those in a $240 dollar (ordered today) component.

Side note - I had planned on getting a brand new 'stang when I have my student loans paid off in a few years... this *really* makes me think twice about doing so. A relay would have cost all of $8 bucks, tops, at an automotive repair store, but no, I have to shell out $240 for a bunch of relays slapped on a PCB mounted in a box that's not sealed and exposed to the environment? It's like the engineers were saying "gee, how can we make sure something fails on this car?"
