Power steering whine
My GF has a 2002 v6 Mustang with right around 95k miles. its her daily driver and she's starting to get the "power steering whine". Its not that loud annoying whine yet when you hear it and people turn around to see what car its comming from but its getting there. It just started this week. Would it be worth a shot to drain the current power steering fluid and put some new fluid to see if that can be the solution or what are my other options. she doesnt plan on keeping the car much longer probally getting rid of it within the next 3-4 months, at least untill the new Jetta's come out, but i want the problem fixed before we sell it to someone. I know at the end i might end up getting a new pump, but before i buy one and get someone to do the labor i want to weigh my options before so. Im not so mechanically advanced so im not 100% on these things. Ive searched but no luck. what would be next after the fluid flush and still doesnt work? Ive only changed my own oil (2005 Scion tC) and never anything else. Is draining the power steering fluid kinda the same? Any instructions on how to do this and is RedLine or Royal Purple ok for the new fluids? Any certain kind i need to buy or be on the look out for? Her's is getting pretty dark brown. Thanks for any help!!!
Robert.
