03vs99
alright my friend has a 03 mustang with exhuast system, cold air intake and a tuner chip. his car is automatic. i have stock 99 that is manual. would i have any chance at winning this race if we raced?
+1 to the track
With IMRC's he has more grunt than you do in the lower rpms, after 3000rpms he is at a slight flow disadvantage due to the minor restriction the shafts impose. Both of you will top out right about 5300rpms before power starts dropping. Your torque and horsepower meet at 5250rpms (Of course.) Your actually begin to flatten out badly on power at about 5100rpms.
Thats judging from stock and bolt on dyno's that I have seen.
I dont know where the auto will shift at WOT but I am fairly sure it wont be 5250 or even 5100rpms.
Also how heavy is this guy? Are you heavier?
If you are the lighter guy and the fact that the auto is also heavier you could stand a chance if there is more than 50lbs difference between you two. Remember 100lbs = 1/10 a second (Roughly.)
To give you an idea.
99-00 hp is 190
01-04hp is 193
The mods he has are going to be close to this.
Tuner 15-20hp (91-93oc)
CAI 5hp
Exhaust 10hp depending on what kind of exhaust work was done.
So thats roughly 30-35hp more than you
Because of the number of different factors that goes into this race I would say it could be as simple as a drivers race.
Lets hope he is a fatass and you a twig
Also other factors that weight in are do both cars have the same gear ratio? Are you running the same wheel/tire combo, rim weight does add up quick and other things like stereo equip and what not.
Just go out the track and have fun
