Ight so a buddy of mine recently bought a stock 96 gt which kinda sucks cause i told em he should of just bought the 95 with the 5.0 in it for 1k more but it was the color black he didnt like on it... but anyways. He wants to race me and i know the 96 gts are said to have kinda low hp like 215hp or roughly around there. But its completely stock, he wants to race me but im wondering how bad actually im going to get smoked. Its going to be a 40mph role so im wondering if its gonna be just a shame with everything ive actually put into the car if its just gonna be a smoke fest. lol...
My mods are listed below and im hoping to get the H pipe on before we do it but im sure thats not going to add alot anyways even if i dont put it on. Any oppinions?

is your car auto or stick? what about his?

40mph is a dead spot for auto's- bottom of 2nd gear. get some gears and you will have a way better shot.

i had this exact situation play out with a buddy of mine and it was somewhat close for about 15 seconds then his car started to pull away so from doing this exact situation he will win but it wont be a blow out at first

Hands down he will win. But it should be close enough so that you can make fun of him for having a "BIG BAD GT" that can barely beat a V6.

IMO the 96-98 GT's aren't even worthy of wearing a 'GT' badge....

You are right the 94-98's aren't that great when it comes to power. For that matter, most of the high production mustangs are slow as ****. You look back at the classic 67 68 mustangs with a 302 and they were flat out slow with 210hp at the crank. The new edge GT's only have 260hp and wouuld get smashed by a stock camaro or firebird. You have to mod a stang just to keep up with a stock camaro, if he has mods, forget it, you better have alot of money into the motor. You have to get an 04 Cobra just to be in contention with a chevy, which I think sucks, but that's how it is. Thank Ford for being so stingy on the horsepower!!
