Default S/C Doesn't seem worth it... (read more inside)

Well, I was going to sell my Mustang and buy a 240sx... after a week of trying to sell, I gave up and just said "I'm just gunna try to make it fast." I started looking up superchargers.

I decided to go with Procharger. But, of course, I'm not gunna throw down 4K on a S/C I don't know about. So I asked for some information.

The customer service was amazing (at least shipping). It came two days later. Inside, though, had troubling news.

At the crank, a stock V6 SN95 Mustang produces 150 HP. While the stock V6 New Edge Mustangs produce 193 HP.
This was troubling enough... but it gets worse.

Strapped with a Procharger boosting an impressive 11psi, the stock SN95 will produce 270 HP at the crank.
Boosting 11psi with a stock V6 New Edge, it produces 345 HP at the crank.

Yes... that ".1L" will produce roughly 65 more HP at the crank with the same pressure.

This is really... depressing. Now I'm looking to sell my V6 and get a GT. They produce 260 HP at the crank stock. [BTW, the 11psi S/C from Procharger for a SN95 Mustang costs approximately $4k. But I'm not sure if that includes shipping or not]

For 4K I can buy a GT.

However, I decided to test my limits in other things. I'm looking into getting a new block built. A 4.2L V6 with forged rods and all of that good stuff. It should be aroudn the same weight as the stock V6, so I might not have to swap my suspension. So far, he's quoted me for ~$2.5K. Not including the installation. Which I might do myself. But, it depends.

[That price includes the engine block, not the ECU, wiring harness, injectors, power sterring pump or alternator. You re-use from the stock.]

However, I'm still nto sure if it's worth it. That's a lot of money / work. Although, it would be bada$$ to put a 252 badge on my Mustang. ^_^

Thoughts?

It has nothing to do with .1L, its the fact tha the 99-04 mustangs have split port intakes.

The least you can do is sell me your S/C for dead cheap now that you thread-jacked me. :P

For the record, not all New Edges have the 3.9L, and the 3 hp difference wouldn't be noticeable. Do a split-port swap to your SN-95 and you'll see numbers like with the New Edges. The intake is where those extra ponies are coming from, like VCS said.

I guess your math is off.

193 (NE Mustang) - 150 (SN95) = 43 HP.

But, that's true. I can do a split-port swap. But how much does that cost?
