I asked the guys at Autozone, and this one guy seemed to be really knowledgable, he said it was a bad MAF & Bad O2. They only sold the O2 at Autozone, a Bosch one for about $75-80. I'm not sure. Something around those prices.
So, my question is what would you suggest I do.
A) Fix it myself. Look around town for someone who has an MAF. [I'm pretty baller at wrench work]
B) Take it to Ford and get them to fix it
C) Wait for my Dad's friend to come back in town (he owns / runs a mechanic place that specializes in Ford) and see how much he'd charge me.
If I choose option B or C, I'll have to add more money since my Odometer's broken, too, and I'd get that fixed.
About option B and C, other than money, is that I wouldn't have my car for a day or two. Which means I can't go to work... and I need to find an alternative to get to school.
But if I do it myself, there's a possibility of me rocking my MAF sensor and ruining my intake. =| I don't know the real likliness of that happening, but still.
Any suggestions? I really don't have $300-400 bucks to shell out to get it fixed right now... but I also can't afford this horrible gas mileage.

No. I don't know how. Care to share?
And do you know anywhere where I can find where the O2 sensor is? 'cause I don't know how many / where they are.

The 174 code is definitely an o2 sensor code, I had the same problem, 171 and 174 codes for o2's. Agreed try to clean the maf, it usually will fix the problem.

Is the MAF an o2 Sensor? And what exactly is the MAF? I saw online when I was looking for the prices, it looked like the throttle body. But, I've also noticed a small sensor-like thing right behind the air filter. Is that the MAF?
I dont believe that the MAF is technically an "o2" censor. I believe the "o2" censor is in the exhaust pipes. Being that when you get longtube headers you have to get "o2" extenders. The MAF or mass airflow sensor just tells the computer how much air is going into the engine.
My questions is can you use TB cleaner on the MAF or no? I have to clean my TB so I bought a car of cleaner so Im wondering if I can use it on the MAF too?
Thanks,
Matthew
