Default Timing?

I was wondering whether I should adjust the timing on my car. I have a Diablo sport reprogrammer and I was wondering what the advantages of adjusting it would be if there is any.

I think if you advance it alitte you'll get some more HP but, in turn you gotta get higher octane gas. If you retard it that would be more useful for NOS or power adders, i think but someone correct me if im wrong tho.

Actually those reprogrammers aren't all that great. You're VERY limited on what you can change. The only real way to do anything worth while is to tap into your EEC with the SCT software. With that you can add timing, change your shift points, anything and everything you can think of you can do with it. Finally to answer your question, you don't wanna mess with your timing. You should always keep it straight up. Once you get a knowledgeable tuner to work with you, let him mess with the timing. Your timing is a fragile thing. Going to extreme could result in disater.
