A cat back will include mufflers - so you'd be losing money from one or the other. The H pipe is the mid pipe (or catted part).

If you are looking for a good mid pipe, go with Mac.

I just bought the flowmaster 40's catback system, but had the guys at the shop make an H-pipe and put that on instead of the Y-pipe. Sounds great and no problems whatsoever, but also depends on how much youre willing to spend.

dont buy a premade catback system at all, especially not for our cars. there are some great premade ones for the gts, and for some nicer imports (did I just say the I word? :P)...but nah, the premade ones will run you more than having a local shop custom bend your pipes for you, your choice of muffler. add the hpipe if you like. i run the force pros and fabbed 2.5 inch duals, and LOVE them.

eh, just my sugesstion. i just took an ambien and it is making me loopy. o think its sleep y time for adam.

I agree with you on that one, but i went to a shop and they didnt bend it enough so it kept on hitting the axle...eventually making the pipe smaller. After that i just went on Ebay, found some pre-bent pipes and a couple of flowmaster 40 mufflers and had the guy at the shop throw it all together. Worked out very well actually, but do as you see fit.

I agree, you might not be able to predict the sound as accuratly as you would if you bought a brand name, but its cheaper and adds the "cool" factor. I have flowmaster 40s with stock mid pipe and headers and i like it alot. Only breathing mods i have are the catback and the cold air intake and i love it.

If the shop didnt bend the pipes right, then thats kinda the shops fault and i wouldnt make the assumption that every shop is gunna give you an unsuitable custom exhaust. I would have demanded satisfaction and gotten them to redo it.

yeah, omni, ive ran into that before. it is hard to gauge who is a good pipe guy buy the way the shop looks. ive gone into a local midas once and got a beautifully bent, compression bend header back exhaust installed, beautiful welds, no leaks, tucked up real tight, no cabin vibrations....very happy.

then on another car, per recommendation of a friend of mine, i went to the "exhaust master" in my town for them to install a single exit on my old four banger...hack and chop job, clamped the majority of it together, hung low, sounded like crap...and used a conbination of 2.25..then to 2.5...then back down to 2.0 inch exhaust pipes on the car, having difficulties with getting it over the axles and what not. terrible.

are our cats bolted or welded in? i want to hollow em out soit seems like theres cats there but i dont want any. from there i think ill have the shop fab an H pipe andthe over axels and ill have em throw 2 force pros on it, i finally heard em on a catlessGMC jimmy with only one and i really like the sound. how much should i look for in a price for all that?
