OK, ive called every dealership where i live to see how much they would charge for a posi/gears install and they all said it was gonna anywhere from $500-800. Now, ive also called some other shops around(all the good ones) and they say similar prices. Best i got so far was $480. Is it really that hard or are they just overpricing the install? seems like it should only be about $400 maximum.

 

shop near me said 250 + fluids.
another said 300 ish + fluid, if i change gears
200 + fluid if i don't

 

Is that just for the install labor, if so, HOLY CRAP. I've seen guys on here post the price to be around $250 - 300 for the install alone.

 

costs me 350 for labor and motive bearking kit/fluids

 

well ive got ALL things necessary for the install. Ive got the bearing kit, friction modifier, and the royal purple diff fluid. Ya the estimates are all for labor alone. Funny thing is, i know some places are telling me high prices because they just dont want to do the install. kinda stupid if you ask me

 

dont give it to anyone who doesnt wana do it thats just asking for a stupid mistake by them

 

I would think that $500 should be about right. It is a difficult job, and not one any ol' do-it-yourselfer can pull off.

 

It seem's a little high but that also depends on what they are doing. I would to tom's differetials online and check his prices on gear sets and install kits. That will give you idea of the pricing your getting.

 

Well, i got some good news. I found a place that only works on later model mustangs about 30 mins from where i live, and they quoted me $325. Im scheduled to have them put in on weds so ill keep yall posted as to how that goes.
