In town I drive my 06 Stang (Auto) in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, then drive (with Overdrive on), I have had no problems at all... and I still get 21MPG doing that... It sounds like you have checked everything over good, so not sure what else to suggest... Perhaps take it to a Ford Dealer, let them drive it, or you drive it and see if it will do what you are describing with a Tech in the car with you... then go from there...

I dont think driving it in 1, 2, d, and Od would have hurt it...unless he over revved it...

it could b the fuel pump. i kno u checked the line pressure but it may be slacking as the car heats up or some other variable. i would get someone to hook up a diagnostic computer to it and drive it around then see if u can figure out what it is
