Default 40th Anny Model

I just bought my Grandpa's 40th Anny mustang at a very good price. It has a V6 and an auto tranny. I was wondering if the 40th anny model is worth keeping for a while in hopes of it gaining some value or should I eventually trade it in on an older V8? Beacause I am obsessed with power. It is a really nice car, my Grandpa hardly ever drove it and I really like it but I didn't know if it was worth keeping for a couple of years. Thanks for any iinfo.

Welcome fellow stanger! gongrats on your buy. to answer your questions your car will not gain to much value soon but it is a special edition. Your car might become valueable in the near future. like most peolple say get a gt but i say stick with the v6. You can show people that you have dedication by woking on the 6er. Sure the power is'nt there like a gt but you can make it. i have spent about $1,400 in my red 04 in 5 months and i just can't stop. The feeling you get from more and more horsepower is great. Stay with yours is my bet.

I think you should stick with it as well. It's a really good place to start if you're interested in learning about mustangs and working on them. Plus, with gas prices on the rise, it's nice to save a little here and there, and on insurance too.

As for the value... if it's the 40th anniversary special edition package (which is different than just the standard v6,GT.. etc from 04) then it might still be worth something later on. But if it's just a v6 with the 40th badges (and without the rest of the anni package) then it'll just be worth whatever it's worth in due time.

Best of luck on your choice! I think it'd be worth it to keep the 6er though. You can always upgrade later!!!

This may sound stupid but how do you tell if it came with just the badges or the whole package? Mine says 40th anniversary edition and I was actually wondering the same thing about value wise. Thx

You have to look at your build sheet to know if you have the real 40th. It will say 40th anniversery upgrade package. What came with the 40th, I don't really know, but its on my build sheet.

Special wheels and a GT-style hood.

hmm you COULD keep the v6, but since it has low miles on it, and its an 04, ud get some money offa that , itd prolly be enuff to get u a 2002 or so used GT....if the power is that much bigga deal, then do it....the v6 is awesome, theres no doubt about it, but its no v8 either...

I would try and keep it myself, would make your Grandfather proud to see you enjoy driving his old car around.

I purchased by stang back in January and the way that I could tell that it was the 40th anniversay is b/c the engine is a 3.9 and not a 3.8 and only certain colors come with the 40th anny package. My car is the dark red color, not sure of the specific name for it though. Anyway, I would keep the car b/c, like said before, you are able to upgrade your car and feel and hear the difference. So far I've added a MAC CAI and could tell a small difference in the power of the engine and a big difference in the engine noise. I plan on getting an exhaust next, as soon as I'm back from Iraq. But, that's MHO.
