Default still questioning

is an elbow fenderwell CAI really gonna mess up my MAF readings as much as shadowsix informs me? (no offence)

This was ShadowSix's advice:

"I had a fenderwell style, and had tune problems. The 90* elbow before the MAF throws off the readings on the stock calibrated MAF. You will need to get a tune. I discovered MGP loss, more hesitation, and actual slower 1/4ET's/MPH's."

and

"Having an elbow before the MAF will throw off MAF readings. As air is getting sucked in, air will be pushed against the outside edge of the elbow, and the inside edge will not have much air flow at all. This imbalance will throw off MAF readings. I had my car tuned after I put my fenderwell CAI on, and in the higher RPMs the engine was getting more air than the MAF was actually metering."

uh i dont see how it would. Maybe there was something wrong with his MAF or he must have installed it wrong because most people who have CAI's in theyre stangs have them and they work fine. it should give you way better throttle response, a tad bit more power, and a lil bit louder tone from your exhaust ( if aftermarket)

I've had a fenderwell CAI, and NEVER had a single problem. The MAF has no clue where the air is coming from, the only way there would be a problem is if there was a leak AFTER the MAF.

Anytime I've done a CAI on my mustangs, I ALWAYS use fender type applications. Even with my M112, I'm routing air in from the fender .

My fenderwellCAI on my Mustang from BBK is working great with no problems. Infact I gained MPG as I did with the Cat back system. As Ryansquick6 said the MAF has no idea where the air is coming from its only job is to read how much is coming. [8D]
