Default good plan??

Soooo I have a 2001 with an automatic tranny here was my list of mods to do and in the order I was thinking in doing them in:

1. CAI
2. Catback Exhaust (Magnaflow I think)
3. XCAL3 Tuner
4. Wheels & Tires

I would do the wheels & tires sooner but I'm 17 and at $8.50 per hour I think I'm gonna chip away at a few performance mods then get the look I want with some rims etc. and somewhere along the line pick up a MACH 1 grille delete sometime...

So ANYWAYS... IS THIS A GOOD BEGINNING PLAN FOR MY STANG???

Not bad for starters. What's the overall goal for the car, longterm?

Your gonna catch a lot of crap for doing an engine swap....its been said over and over on here that an engine swap just isn't worth it, you'd be better off just buying a GT

the only reason I'd do a swap is by the time I'm ready to REALLY upgrade my cars gonna have atleast 150xxx miles on it

When its time for a new engine, just go the 4.2 route, save money, make the same power.

With your goal, I would not do the magnaflow catback, start out with something less restrictive. I had a catted xpipe and flowmaster 40duals and it sounded wicked on my v6, and would support good amounts of horsepower. I went with 2.5" piping.

Either do that, or ditch the CAI and exhaust for now and go straight to gears and tlock with a tuner, you will be very happy with those mods.

if so can you post a link or explain to me what all I'd need to buy for that because I did look at that route but didnt understand what all I needed

Get a second opinion on this, But I think you can use any brand of catted xpipe or hpipe our v6s, then use a gt catback, that'll expand your options some more. Of course, you'll have two mufflers then. That setup will sound good, and support future mods, a win-win situation.

the best way to go is just buy the mufflers you want magnaflow flowmaster etc. and bring them to an exhaust shop by you and have them fab the pipes. you dont have to do any labor and it will cost you alot less then that kit does
