Default MPG for new gears?

Couple questions. Does anyone know the expected MPG after installing new gears like 4.10? And also would it be cheaper to take the rear end off of a GT and just slap that on my car since it already has a t-lok with it?

MPG stays about the same unless you start driving more "aggressively".

Might be cheaper to use a GT rear end, but bear in mind it's used. I would put a new set of Ford Racing 4.10s and a new T-Lok in your still relatively new 2004 7.5" rear end. That way you would know for certain what you have. Total cost? $500-$600 installed. However you choose to do it the gear change, it's one of the best mods you can do for your car in my o-pinion.

exactly.

who started the rumor about new gears seriously affecting your mpg anyway? you'll see maybe 1mpg difference on the highway.

There was this one guy, can't remember if it was here or on stangnet, but he said he lost 8mpg when he went with 4.10s

yeah, when you mash the gas all the time it'll go down. i lost about 5mpg+ when i went with 3.73. now that i'm used to them and not always mashing them, i get the same mpg as i did with stock gears.

GT take off exhaust? if so, that's the only way to go! well, the cheapest way and still give you a good throaty sound. i have a GT, but the 6ers i heard in our club with GT takeoffs don't sound bad at all. they're not nearly as loud, but it still sounds good.

No, what I meant was taking the rear end off of a GT to use its gears... since it already has a t-lok included do you think it would be cheaper to just use it? But your opinion on exhaust is welcom and appreciated.

meh.. i'd just buy some for your 7.5 rear end and just go with that. less to worry about. someone posted in general tech about some gears for a v6 for $120 i think it was. should probably cruise in there and grab some.
