Default more speed

helllo friends,

Ineed more speed..
I run a 89 2.3 in SCCA ITB, and i am tired of getting blowen away by everything.
Any ideas on how I can get a finish better than 3rd.
It has a header and cold air intake. SCCA limits what we can do "Legally".
What about timing or the ecm can i get a reprogramed chip?

any ideas?????

if you want to do something for reall...get a 2.3T engine and swap it in...same engine just has a turbo...need to change a little bit on the wiring harness but bolts up the transmission...want to get a better clutch and flywheel...grab that off a turbo coupe or SVO..or get the part new...but that will give you about 200 hp and 200 torque...same hp as a 5.0 so i'm pretty sure that you could beat most of the other cars that beat you...here is a web site that can give you more info

http://www.projecthp.ford23.com/

just check it out...its the "fourced" project...i love his car...going to be getting a Turbo coupe for 200 myself...just for the engine and **** for the swap into my car....lol

Honestly I am suprised that you are finishing 3rd with a N/A 2.3 with a stock suspension.

Can you do any work on the suspension? If your only concern is circle track racing, and you have to keep the stock engine setup, I would go to work there. It sounds like you are almost keeping up with the people you are racing now, some suspension work will put ya in the lead.

Otherwise can you do a 5.0L swap? They are pretty cheap at the junkyard.

Also, I think your car is equppied with a 7.5? throw an 8.8 in there for better traction.

the 2.3T swap is easier, keep the great gas milage, and still have pretty much the same hp as teh 5.0s...now not as much torque granted but still pretty damn good for a 4 banger
