I have a 94 v-6 convetable that the engine was replaced under waranty 50,000 miles ago. about a week ago I started hearing a ticking noise. Today after driving the car for a short ride 30-40 miles which the car ran fine as always' came home for a short time and went to go out to some friends for dinner. Started the car up' put it gear' gave it some gas' it started skipping and had a little white smoke come out of the tailpipe which smelled like gas. Any help as to what problem is would be helpful. Sounds like your running very rich. Is the check engine light on?

No the check engine light is off. Planing to do a compression check soon

 

When's the last time you changed your plugs?

 

Plugs have less then 10,000 miles on them. 150-180 lbs of compression in each cylinder. the drivers side rear plug was soaked with gas when I pulled it out all the others where dry. I'm thinking I have a bad fuel injector. one more thing the engine runs the same hot (yesterday afternoon) or cold (this morning) chugging and smoking which smells like gas.

 

what kind of plugs did you use?

 

It sounds like you might have a leaky injector. Its a pretty easy thing to test, pm me if you want a walk through.

 

used autolites Thank for help and thoughts so far.

 

Replaced fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator. new spark plugs and wires. Still runs rough and lots of white smoke which smells like gas. let the car run for awhile and had gas dripping form tailpipe also.
