Default Advice while painting?

I'd like to get my car repainted becuase it still has original paint and a decade has taken it's toll on the exterior. Nothing real bad, but little things tend to bother me. The front bumper has the typical scrapes and scratches, every so often there are white specks where the paint has flaked off and I guess its just the primer, and I have some rust starting to show up. Overall it is just dull too. I look in the door jambs and its a total different color in there, I want my entire car to look like that again.

So I know a guy that will cut me a break if I decide to have the car repainted, but I will probably have to section it becuase I dont have the money for the entire thing. I figure I will try to do hood, fenders, front bumper first. Is there anything I should do while this parts are off?

why not save up and have the whole thing done at the same time? its better that way because you mix the paint in the same batch, no worries about matching it exactley.

are you going the oriognal colour?

Yes, I like the original color, just not it's current state...I believe it's Atlantic Green. It's like super metallic flake in the sunlight, but a deep green in the shade...

Hmm, I'm going to have to think about it. This is my only car to drive so I can't have it out of commission for too long...

Half painted car? No, the entire car is painted:P

I had a beater car up untill May, when I was driving and the frame railing snapped, suspension collapsed, and I ran it off the road. I'm in college, and in debt, throwing down a couple grand for a beater just isnt possible...

Yeah, painting is stages will never be a good match. When the sun hits the car, you'll see each 'patch' done. Save up and do it all at once.

Ok, Hmm. Well, I'm not going to have a good lump of money for aleast 2 more years being in school and everything, but like I said, its has some small rusts and in 2+years it will be large rust.
