humming sound coming for engine

humming sound coming for engine
I have been hearing a humming sound coming from my engine. I have tracked down the sound and it is coming from my power stiring pump. Can it be caused my a leck or is it going out or somthing?

if the resevoir is full you dont have a leak. flush the fluid out with new stuff. sometimes that fixes it. sometimes you have to replace the pump.

Could be your gaskets going out. Ford in notorious for their very loud power stearing pumps. Is it a recent noice? Or has it been there for a while.

You can hear it soon as u start the car up and gets louder when u turn the wheel.

check the fluid, if its low fill it up with ATF, DO NOT OVERFILL IT,

it is full but i think i over filled it. is there a way to drain all of it out and put new ps fluid in it?

Stop leak can damage the pump by damaging the internal seals

the power-steering pump on mine sounds like it came of a lorry.....it gets louder still when you turn the wheel. its always been the same.
