Clank Clank...???
I was getting a clanking noise coming from my left wheel well. I was having braking issues and replaced all 4 rotors, brakes, and one caliper (was seized). Thought maybe that would get rid of the noise too but it didn't. When I first drive the car I don't hear anything. After driving for about 10 mins the clanking starts. It gets worse as the car getts driven longer. First it seemed to do it when braking but then it started doing it even while just driving. If I let the car sit for an hour then take it out again the noise is gone till about another 10 mins of driving then it comes back. I just had the left bearing replaced and was thinking I got a faulty one? Also just had the tie rod ends and ball joints replaced at the same time about 3 months ago. Any ideas or advice?
Thanks!
Thanks!
hmm sounds like someting to do with heat, something swelling up as it heats up. it looks like you have replaced everything up front. did you change every thing your self or take it to a shop?
Did the brakes and Rotors myself. Other stuff was done at the shop. Was to cold here 3 months ago to do it myself. So I am assuming the guy knew what he was doing. Everytime I take my car to a shop they f*ck it up. That's why I prefer to do things myself.

ya i hear you there man, i try to do it all myself.
i am always sceptical that they dont do it right or dont actually change the part.
good luck with finding out what it is and that its not too bad.

I was going to suggest that is the wheel bearing but since you replaced it the only think I can think of is maybe the strut is blown or wheel is just unbalanced. Try rubbing your hand over the wheel and feel for uneveness.
I think it is the bearing that is shot. The new one too. Very odd. When I press up against the side of the tire with my foot I can hear the Clanking sound. I am thinking the guy may have not greased the bearing properly??? They told me the bearing had a lifetime warrenty so they better replace it for free.
my moms vert had the same problem. it was that rubber stuff they put behind the pad. they took it in to get it fixed put new rotors on and pads and it was fine.
yeah i dunno its what it was for us. sounds impossible to me.

Rubber thing behind the pad? Do you mean the anti-squeek silicon they use put behind the pads? I actually thought it might be the breaks sticking too. I replaced everything...brakes..rotors...and the clips that the pads slide on. I never used any anti-squeek compound though.
If anyone is interested it was the bearing that was replaced 4 months ago??? Go figure. The Mechanic said it was all rusted up??? He asked me if I was parking on grass...which I don't. Oh well they replaced it for free so I am semi-happy.
