Default Performance Issues

I need some help. I would like to get this problem solved as quickly as possible. I'm losing MPGs and acceleration.

I bought an 02 V6 Mustang 5speed a few days ago. I love it to death but I have a question about it. The car starts fine in first gear. It accelerates fine. But when I hit the clutch and shift into 2nd the RPMs don't drop immediately. I have to wait probably 2+ seconds before I can release the clutch and continue on. I'm getting horrible acceleration because I have to wait so long. It happens every time I shift. What can I do to make the RPMs drop faster? Is there a cable I need to get replaced? Or is this common for all Mustangs this year?

Thanks in advance. I hope you can help.

Thanks. On this car is that an in-depth job or could I change it over the afternoon? And do you have any suggestions for which brand I should get or just get a stock one?

look for the IAC restrictor plate trick in the how to's sticky

it goes between your idle air control and the intake, and restricts the air that gets in the engine at idle. (in our cases when we let off the gas) it works great for me, the rpms are at the PERFECT spot right when i get back on the gas/off the clutch.

the cars come like this for some un known reason

I would try cleaning the IAC first.
