Default flowmaster drone need help

i have a true dual flowmaster 40 series exhaust on my 06 v6 and it drones so bad that i cant take it, it makes everything rattle inside. I was gonna buy another v6 muffler and just run 2 stockers but i dont want to spend that much money.

i heared about people putting glass packs before the flowmasters before, but does it really help? and if not what will?

i have the 40 series dumped and it drones alot more than you. If you dont like it get some magnaflows that should kill that drone you have but i dont know if you will ilke the sound.

funny, i was actually thinking about doing just the same thing. i have turn downs, and they do the same.

im probably going to weld in a couple of straight thru resonators right after the hpipe, before the mufflers, to see if that helps things.

On my v6 I have a x-pipe with just glasspacks, used to have turn downs but the drone was really bad. Finished off the exhaust with some nice tips and it sounds great. I have gotten many compliments on it, a few people say it sounds like a GT. I will post some pics tomorrow for you

maybe adding these in, around the hpipe area, then the two mufflers, then the turn downs?

or these...

i like the idea of the perforated core, but im wondering if they would impede exhaust flow. i doubt it, since it doesnt have those "fins" or louvers...just the holes/perforations. plus, it still has the 2.5 inch interior diameter, so im guessing the second ones might be a nice choice.

alright, i just ordered a pair of the second ones, the loudmouth II muffler/resonators. Im gonna have the hpipe shortened a bit, have those welded in, run a little bit of piping, have my old spintechs welded in, then extand the turn downs to right before the rear axle. if that doesnt quiet it down any, im about done with this car.

did a lot of research, and the loudmouth IIs are bsaically a straight thru muffler design with a packed core, so it should eat some of the sound, without impeding flow at all. well see how she sound afterwards.

LOL!!!! You guys are complaining for no reason. Just list, a TWO chamber flowmaster set with tail pipe shouldn't even be that loud in the first place. Most guys have the same set up on their GT. Not to make you guys sound like p***ys or anything but that sup should not be loud in any way shape or form. The reason why I know is because I have dual SINGLE chamber flowmasters with 90 turn downs on my, so I know what a real drone sounds like. If I was you I would make sure the tail pipes are welded on right, make sure there is no leaks, and put an H pipe on it. And if its still to loud, sell your mustang and buy a honda!

Yeah, WE HAVE v6s! As far as exhaust goes, it's never going to sound just like the "ideal" GT/v8/whatever. Get longtubes, take off the cats, and get a set of decent mufflers and it'll sound good enough.

first off, i have longtubes. and an hpipe. and dual chambered mufflers (spintech prostreets), and all the other mods in my sig. ive been modding cars for a long time, and I know what is "loud" and what isn't. sorry if i don't wanna be deaf. no need to be an *ss and tell me to sell my mustang and buy a honda, tough guy.

yeah, maybe you're right though. what am i complaining about, louder is better. maybe ill just run open headers. those sound great on v6s. since you are comparing what sounds good on a GT to what sounds "good" or shouldnt be "too loud" on a v6.

i f'ing hate it when people try to be cute on forums and tell people what is "too loud" or "too ugly" or "too...whatever" based upon personal preference. maybe, at age 29, and having boxed for too many years, my ears are too sensitive, and I should "buy a honda" now.

Just run the exhaust out the back, I thought my turn downs were cool but just got tired of the drone even thought it was not that bad. I am telling you it will look cool and sound a little better as well. Plus the drone will be almost nothing. Again if I can I will post a video and some pics if I get time.
