Caliper lock up?
I just changed the pads in the front calipers of my girl's 2003 6 cyl 'stang. As soon as I took it for a test drive it started burning the brakes.
Turns out the calipers are not releasing the pistons when the brake is released. jacked up the front and both wheels are locked up. Can't turn by hand. I went back inside and the caliper comes off easy, the slide pins move freely and the pads slide easily on the metal retainer clips. I can easily compress the pistons again with a C-clamp.
The pistons didn't seem to have much trouble when I originally compressed them with a C-clamp, but I question why they would fail to retract if they can be moved manually.
Is there anything special about the 03 mustang that I have failed to do?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
