Looking for power
first off welcome to the site. the easiest way to add power is a 100 shot of nitrous. nothing is cheap but nitrous is the best route.
$500 for Nitrous kit
$400 for a dyno tune
$300 for injectors
$150 for 310LPH SVT focus fuel pump
the rear will need upgraded too.
$700 for a detroit truetrac and 3.45 or 3.73 gears/install kit and installation.
another option is do a 4.2L f-150 splitport swap. it can be done for under $1500 and will give a nice 65 hp gain and 30ftlbs torque gain.
as for bolt ons the only things worthwhile doing ia a good dual exhaust and UD pullies and add a K&N filter and remove the snorkel "silencer" from the stock air filter housing. don't waste money on a CAI as they will give the same 3-5hp gain as using the stock filter housing with a K&N filter and silencer removed.
gears are a really good way to make your car feel quicker. 3.45's or 3.73's are awsome and don't affect mileage much. maybe 2-3mpg less than stock 2.73 gears. i would add a limited slip differential. PAW has the Auburn on clearance for $250 now and it usually sells for $450. it's much stronger than the ford t-lok. the ford t-lok is weak sauce. they break easy and still cost $200

Jokes aside, cobra232 pretty much laid it out. Personally, if I was in your position, I'd opt for the gears because you will "feel" much more pull and acceleration, although there may not be any real gain. And that would keep it in the hundreds.
But I'd also say that exhaust is a good choice too, at least for me. Having that rumble was a necessity so I was fine with paying the $400 to have it done right with dual flows.
