Is it true if you time your distributor to 16 you can get 50hp?
thats what this one kid said that if you do that you will gain 50hp

well your right he doesn't have a distributor but you do time using a distributor to advance and retard ignition spark. i do smallblock chebby's without a timing light as long as it's under 9.5:1 engine compression and pump gas just using my ears.

how ever you don't get 50hp out of it. if the engine is already optimized for timing then you gain nothing by playing with timing. if it's retarded too much then you can gain 7-8HP on a 350.
