Help Needed Now!!!!!
Ah yes, if a pulley is even the slightest bit off, it will toss the belt for sure. I almost lost my belt when I installed the blower the last time. Had to measure the added idler three times to figure out it was the one that was off. Couldn't even tell by looking.
Okay the shop called today and said the problem was that they needed a ford factor idler pulley cause the after market ones kept throwing the belt off track. So they fixed it for free and checked my engine. They said the engine was fine and the head gaskets are good too. The only reason I saw steam coming up was because the reservoir cap blew open from pressure and released antifreeze all over. Do you think they are bull****ting me? or does that seem like a honest result of the problem?
I really doubt they are BSing you.
here is the facts though. They didnt even have to help you the way they did and here is why.
You bought aftermarket parts that they do not offer a service warenty with. Only Ford OE parts mean that they will offer a service warenty.
Not trying to be a ***** here, I have just heard this way way way too much.
Now if they have not said anything about that yet then dont mention a damn thing about it. You dont want to get charged anything more than a lost belt.
I doubt you blew a head gasket, 99+ got most of the problems worked out with the heads and gaskets.
Always use Factory Ford parts unless buying from a well know aftermarket company and I am not talking a retailer like AutoZone.
For example:
When it comes to belts Gatorback is great.
When it comes to Gaskets OE is the best to use (Search through my old posts about my hate and anger for Fel-Pro lower intake gaskets and being double the price of OE.)
Just take your time and do your reseach, ask lots of questions.
Thats why we loiter here

PS.
It never hurts to start saving for a 4.2/4.3L build.
