Your pretty much right about the exhaust... LTs, h-pipe (o/r or hi-flo cats), and Flows or some similar muffler is the only way to go with exhaust IMO.

I had an H as my first set-up, when I went to LT's, I switched it up and got an X, and I think it sounds a little better.

Deeper or less raspy/ricey?

It's got more rasp, but the H had like a low hum to it, the X you can just feel through the whole car.. the sound is hard to describe and video's don't capture the sound to provide a video that actually sounds different.

That is literally the best mod on a stock engine. Everyone wants to go to the moon as a kid, might as well send your pistons there first.

so then you dont waste $$ with a CAI

only thing you'd need is plugs and a tune.
you can use stock pump, injectors, MAF.

S/C, best bang for the buck, and if you get a Vortech kit, and run it on a stock/near stock engine, they have several tools that come with it such that you don't really need a tune, however it would help maximize power.

CAI
Exhaust
U/D Pullies
Gears/Differential
Tuner
=approx $2000+ depending on part choice
=approx 170-185 rwhp depend on a lot of variables

S/C
= $2000-3000 depends on new/used, and kit choice
= 9-11 rwhp per PSI = 90 rwhp on an 9 psi kit assuming 10 rwhp gain
= 240-260 rwhp

Umm.........I don't know, I think I'd save up and pick #2, just seems to make more sense.
