Default gears..

im in an 03 auto 3.8 but 4.10's sound abit extreme for a daily driver.. would 3.73's give it some punch but a less dramatic change...? or would it be pointless.. anybody have 3.73's on a auto?

if you have an auto you will want 4 10s.

the gas milage is not as bad with an auto with gears, compared to a 5 speed with the same gear

auto with 4 10s and 5 speed with 3 73s, is basically equal

Auto + 3.73 = fail!

Go with 4.10, it's not going to make any "dramatic" change like you said. Afterwhile you wont even feel it, you'll get used to it!

Why would that be a fail?

How bad would 4:10s hurt gas mileage?

It wont really hurt mpg that bad! It would be noticable if you drive like an @$$ and floor it all the time. But afterall how much do we really care about the mpg...almost every mod affects gas mileage, and we still go for it.

Why would 3:73's be a fail though? Not like its going to hurt anything...

Or is it just not a noticeable difference compared to money spent?

No way its gonna hurt something but 4.10 gives you better lounch! It shifts from 1st to 2nd very quick. My friend has 3.73 in his auto and i have 4.10, and i kick his *** all the time...from a dig or a roll. When I was getting my gears everybody said to get 4.10 for an auto, and now I know why. Thats why it is a fail, because 4.10 responds better with autos, thats from my experience. Now if you ask me why again, i wont tell you how the whole system (auto or manual) works, cuz im not an engineer...lol! Idk whats the speed limit with 3.73, but with 4.10 i think maximum would be 105-110...my speedo is still incorrect!
