I personally dont like taking my car to the shop. I would sacrifice not being able to drive the stang for a couple days than pay $60 an hour for labor.

yeah i would def not just let that go, get a lawyer. everyone above me got it right on the nail, he did not get authorization from you to cut, and especially something you would have to pay him more to replace. AND no one knows why he even cut them.. he didnt need to

The only reason I even took it to him was because I've never had any experience with spacing ring and pinion gears, so I didn't trust myself to get it right... had I known he was going to screw up the ABS, I'd have just given one of the local shops $50 to let me use one of their lifts and tried it myself.

And I'm going to talk it over with my parents to see what they think. The biggest problem with this is that I need the car to go back to school; my classes start back up on tuesday.

That's some shady sh** man. Just talk it over with your parent and see what they say.

On another note how do you like Wyotech I'm coming up sunday and I start my classes on tuesday as well. I'll have to keep an eye out for ya.

Dude, he f'd up the sensors, he didn't have to cut them out (abs sensor have nothing to do with the gears he's a friggin' "O tard"), that's a load of crap man. If he took out the whole rear end to do gears, he shouldn't be near a set of wrenches. I guess he doesn't know anything about penetrants like liquid wrench etc... get your car NOW!!

you shouldnt have to cut the sensors to remove the axles, however the sensors will contact the tone ring on the axle shaft when they are pushed in the little bit that is required to remove the c clips. they basically push through a hole in the flange at the end of each axle tube, i have seen them corrode into the flange making them difficult to remove. it is possible that he would not be able to remove the shafts without damaging the sensors. sometimes corrosion ends up costing you extra. i had the same problem with my mustang, but with a little wd40 and some patience i got the sensors out.

Wyotech in Blairsville? It's not too bad... I just got done with Applied Service Management, which wasn't too much fun; a lot of busy work and information you'll never remember. I start in Automotive Technology tuesday. You staying in Indy, Oakland & Rooney, or private housing?

Anyway, back on-topic. I'm assuming you're right with what happened, jwog... he said something about the sensors being rusted and him not being able to get the axles out... but I still think he should've been a little more patient and tried to use some wd-40 or something. But my dad and I are going to go tomorrow to see exactly what happened and what we can do. I'm still going to see if I can get him to fix it on his own dime; I have a feeling I'd have the upper hand in a court case considering he never had me authorize the destroying of the sensors, so that should work to my advantage

if i were you i would try to get him to pay for half of what he quoted you for the sensors, and then tell him he should call you next time. its not a very good design. when he installs the new sensors have him coat them with silcone grease, this will help with removal in the future.
