Default Spec 2 sucking

I just put a new spec 2 in and there was a very small amount of slack in the cable yet the pedal was taught. However it was catching within hte top inch of the pedal... Now the pedal is getting stuck halfway up and slowly lets itself back in. Theres a bad low screaching noise as it gets stuck and its now catching in the top half inch.

The cable and adjuster are brand new so its not that, I assume something really needs a serious greasing?

Now I'm not sure on the problem, but I will ask an important question, did you install the clutch or did a shop?

Sounds like you didn't lubricate the bearing sleeve before installing the throwout bearing.

What "adjuster" are you talking about? There are firewall adjusters and adjustable cables.

The firewall adjuster. I had a shop do it and it was fine for weeks till this crappy weather. They could easily lube the sleeve now though without ripping it all out?

1. jack up car
2. remove inspection plate at clutch fork
3. have assistant depress clutch
4. with a 1 ft, 1/2" dia. paint brush, apply HIGH TEMP BEARING GREASE to the input shaft in the area that the bearing slides
5. have a assistant release and depress the clutch several times while you inspect to insure that the lube is spreading.
6. Apply more grease if necessary, repeat step 5.
7. Be liberal with the grease, but not so much that it is able to get on the clutch disc.
8. Replace inspection plate, lower and drive rattle free.

Ryan

This is from the thread that Ryan is talking about. I do not know what or where the inspection plate is though

When you get under the car and look at the bellhousing, the inspection plate becomes obvious, just look at the piece that the cable goes into, that's the inspection plate. It has one screw that holds it, and it slides off.
