I'm now doubtful as to wether or not the camaro will ever hit the streets in anything other than pre-production form. I'm hoping this bailout limits them to only PROFIT PRODUCING MODELS, since we all know sports cars don't really make the manufacturers all that much money.

Thats a whole new topic to talk about, but I agree with you! New vette zr1, and a camaro are very impressive, but very pricie too. Anyways, I think the camaro would be sold good. It's been waited for a long time, and the whole advertising was nicely done, not to mention the movie. And they always have Impalas, not just for the regular people but for the public service too.

Yeah, but talk to most cops, especially any highway patrol, and they want the Crown Vic. A small FWD car just can't do what Crown Vics can when necessary.

Thats why I see more Chargers on highways! One of this would be good for the cops, not so much for US auto industry tho!

I think the camaro will sell good for about 4 years, then it'll drop off like usual.

The Vette's will always sell, even if the ZR1 costs $100,000+

I think the camaro will sell as fast as they can make them for the first year when the price is jacked up, but then will become old news, just like the GT500.

Wow I have the interior of that suzuki surfer car on my back porch! Thanks for the pictures. Wish I could have gone. I've been to the Detroit Auto Show (in 2002), but I've heard Chicago is great as well.

On the note of the Camaro, I know someone who has already ordered one and GM originally told him April, now saying late May. So he should have it by November.

I know a few people that have "ordered" one, which means they put a deposit to be on a waiting list for the right to pay the "market price" markup on the first few that come out. And even though it took almost a decade to produce, we all know how bad the first year cars are, especially when it's a completely new car and not an updated design/concept.

Oh yeah, I know that. I'm just saying that's when GM is said he could "expect" delivery. The same thing was with the GT500, Nissan GTR, Audi R8 to name a few. Just another way for people to clean out your pockets.

As far as first year cars go especially for GM, I'm pretty sure the C5 Corvette was Consumer Reports' "Most Unreliable Car" when it came out.
