Default Starting to custom paint, got first piece up. Pics

Think im gonna start to do some custom painting. Ive watched a few videos on how-tos and it seems like a very cool thing to do for a living. Of course starting out is the crappy part with starting out on anything. I've taken years of artist classes throughout high school and free time on my hands and ive never had the opportunity to try out an air brush. Of course im gonna start with small pieces of sheet metal and try out small designs and realistic flame techniques ive seen through some of the videos. Ill keep you guys updated on how things come along the way and show you my work as I go. If you guys have any ideas youd like me to try and create by all means send them out, I would like the challenge of working to become better at this. I already picked up one of those portable tarp garages with ventilation so i dont kill myself in the process. lol... Gonna head out and pick up some paints and such.

You are gonna hate your life. Painting sucks, I tried it once, and now I just pay for it to be done.

haha, idk yet. Im just working on some small projects right now with a few colors, i sort of like it. Drawing out flames and using masking tape for a more plain look comes pretty easy, of course i could use more practice to make it perfect but ill show you guys a couple pieces once im satisfied with the results. Overall the only sucky part of the job so far is the time using the masking tape, but the end result is the reward to see what you created but can't forget the mue-lah :]

lol hopefully the second time will be better. But is there much to just painting a fender. I hit a deer about a month ago and i'm going to pick up my new fender on friday. So i was wondering how hard would it be to paint it myself anf save money.

Whipped up my second piece this morning took about 45mins total but learned from one of my mistakes, everything when good this time didn't seem to have any problems. Heres the finished piece. I primed it and put the black coat on yesterday keep in mind, also I don't have my airbrush yet but hopefully will get sometime this week in the mail with the compressor and all the paints i can practice with. By all means guys give me some ideas to work with, im pretty serious with this custom painting thing.

flames are hard to paint well so maybe start out small and work up lol?

also practice and play around with tinting and shading stuff... thats huge in the custom paint world

try out cartoonish stuff and work up to real stuff
