You're missing out on all the fun man. You need to scurry on out to Lafayette. We installed 2 FR500 steering wheels yesterday, and in a few hours I'm gonna be dropping a Mach 1. Should have 4-5 stangs at the house that all need to be played with.

I would like to know how to do it on a New Edge if ya don't mind!
I have the same squealing noise too, I got the Camshaft Sync and the positioning toil, but no idea how to do it.

haystackstang,
i have the directions from the link below:

http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1h/bl025h.htm

and i have the part number as well. i think the location of the syncronizer is just behind the water pump. from the drawing on the instructions i've seen the part looks familliar. i believe i disconnected it's electrical connection when i replaced the water pump as part of my trying to eliminate the squeeling noise coming from my main pulley area. after i replaced the water pump. lube all the pulleys and belts, i got the bright idea to run the engine shortly without the belt. the squeel remained and a search here led me to believe it may be my camshaft synchronizer.

one question is about locating the TDC and cylinder 1 location. can i see the TDC without removing anything?
another question is how hard is this thing to remove and replace. it seems too easy from the instructions i'v seen. thanks in advance.

Yea, it is that easy to replace. Theres just a retaining bolt holding it in. Simply remove and pull the whole assy. out. Should take you about 20 minutes. As far as doing the TDC thing. Id say forget it and just mark the position where it is now, and put in the new one in the exact same orientation. Should get it back pretty dam close.

Well, you can do the top dead center. But since you brought it up, that exact thing did happen to me. I simply rotated it till the car ran perfect. Kinda like rotating a distributor to adjust timing on an older car. It worked just fine, call it luck i suppose. Now it runs better than when I had the dealer do it for me,(had to do the thing twice).
