just leave the overdrive on. Its better for gas, but you can turn it off if you wan to stay at higher Rpms. You will burn out your tranny if you keep the overdrive off. Due to the heat that will buid up on the tranny.

overdrive will allow you to reach only 115mph if it is on. you can reach 120mph with it off. it is a 3speed without o/d, o/d is the "4th" gear.

Its the other way around in my car. My 3rd gear is still only at 4800 rpm then also.

So if i have OD off i can do 120 and if its on i can only do 115. That doesnt make sense b.c OD acts as your 4th gear wouldnt that allow you to reach a higher speed?

The car shifts into 4th at 105mph when over drive is one and stops at 115mph. When overdrive is off it goes up to 120 in 3rd and stops at 4800 rpm

No because you reach the speed limiter with OD. 3rd doesn't push that one, rather it pushes the rev limiter. Same thing in a 5 speed manual tranny. I can do 120 at close to redline in 4th but in 5th, my speed is limited to 115 at 3500rpm.
