Default 00-01 engine diff

I am going to be starting a build soon. I found the 01 block that will hold the boost pressures but is only the block. I have also found a blown 2000 block with everything but the heads(which i do not need). What are the differences and will i be able to directly bolt the 00 parts to the 01? Any other info that I can do will be great.

are you going to be using the stock rotating assembly? everything else should swap right over with a couple of sensor changes. the main difference is the engine balance and the oil pan clearance.

i will be using a super coupe crank.
Shouldn't the oil pan from a 00 swap to the 01 then?

'01 oil pan is deeper - so the 4.2/4.3L guys us that pan to clear the larger crank.

3.8L Blocks are the same for those years.

It's not deeper but rather a bad design. The back of the 99-00 pan is molded in and contacts the last main cap on the 01+ blocks, thus leaving you a 1/4" - 1/2" gap between the block and the oil pan which a gasket will not seal lol. I've bought 2 oil pans for my 4.3 i'm building and they were both 99 pans and did not clear
