Default Cold Air Intake

I was looking at a BBK Cold Air Intake for my V6 mustang and was wondering if it was worth the money.

Also it says that it doesn't require a tuner but some people say you can't add a CAI without a tuner, is that true ?

I believe it really depends on the CAI that you buy where the tuner is required. Personally, I'd buy a JLT (i believe they are available for the 4.0s) and a tune with it.

Or a C&L and a tune with it. THAT is actually worth the money.

However with a tuner, maybe it'd be best to wait to put gears and a posi in it and get the tuner/intake along with all of it in one big shot so you aren't have to go back over it again.

All really depends on what you want to do.

If you just want a CAI..maybe a K&N or something.

I saw this a couple years ago but forgot what the damn name of it was and like a ton of bricks it hit me when I saw this post! :P

I have seen a couple other posts looking for a tuneless intake but couldnt ever remember the name, I even google searched tuneless S197 CAI and other wordings and couldnt find it.

Damn memory sucks!

Enjoy :P

Thanks but I don't have GT for one thing and at $599 I might as well get one with a tuner.

I'm just looking at the BBK because it's cheap, doesn't require a tune, and will give me a couple hp and a bump in mpg.

You will get the most out of it form a tune. And I think I've read something about you car running lean after a period of time without a tuner, don't quote me on that though. You might just want to wait till you save up the extra couple hundred bucks and buy the package. You'll get the most out of the cai and a discount on the package.

His kit will work on a V6 too, you just need to buy an inlet tube and have that run over to the MAF and air box. A little fabbing goes a long way.

You might also want to think about buying a used Tuner/CAI kit.
