Default 2001 fuel line bend/kinks

The guy that had the car before me didnt care and backup up over something, and bent the fuel line forward, kinking it in two places.
My mechanic at work told me that if the car starts, which it does, then i have full fuel pressure.
is this true? will the kinks affect performance?

AS long as the fuel pressure is good then you should be ok. Fuel lines aren't cheap, nor easy to replace, you can't just slap something on there with a tubing flare, it has to have the couplings on the end from Ford, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

On the older cars with a mechanical fuel pump you can because they only have 6-8 psi of pressure, with fuel injected cars running 40-60 psi you run the risk of a leak, which isnt good from a fuel line. Like Ryan said if it cranks and has good pressure Leave It Alone.

There are two ways to "fix" it. 1 is buy new lines from Ford. The other way is to spend around $250 with LethalPerformance and get the fuel line upgrade kit that replaces all of it with soft high flow line and all the proper fittings. The only downfall with tha is that it doesn't last forever so in a couple years you'll have to replace the soft lines.

I think it's just that your motor sounds like it's toast. If it's knocking, you might as well hang it up, it's gonna need a good bit of work or a just a replacement.

How many miles are on it? My 02 has 115k and the inside of the motor looks super fresh with no issues.

Default yup

The engines toast, by the sound of it, id say a piston is loose. Its horrible. But it has 130,000. Thanks for the help, at least i know the fuel line is okay. How much would a shop usually charge to rebuild an engine? Does anybody have a list of engines that will work in my car? if it matters it is a 5 speed

go to www.carpart.com and spend about $600 on a used one with low miles.

I have 115k on my car and when I just pulled the heads it was beautiful inside, amazingly beautiful as a matter of fact. It's all in maintenance. I beat my car in the dirt a lot more than most and it's still going strong.
