High Miles
I recently was looking through the trader and found a 99 ford mustang v6 5-speed 108,xxx miles on it and it was pretty much stock with the exeption of dual exhaust. They want $5500 for it. Ive got the money, and i could buy it right now. I just was wondering if there are any high priced problems i would have to worry about. And from experience does anyone know what would need to be replaced when dealing with a mustang with high miles. Any transmission problems?? i would greatly appreciate some advice. [sm=feedback.gif]

holy cow that is alot of miles. i have a 2000 V6 with 75k on it now and i havent had any major troubles.
good luck on the purchase. just and FYI
i bought my stang last July for 6,000 and it only had 64k on it.
so thats a bit steep for that 99 i think IMHO

yeah i figured the price was a little steep. im gonna call the guy and see if he will bring it down to 5 or 4500. i know the guy so that might be a little advantage. im just worried about miles. ive rebuilt motors before so that wouldnt be a problem. but the tranny i dunno about it. is yours a 5 speed or an auto babygurl2000??
yep my 5 speed is going strong. i dont drive my stang in the winter here in michigan.
i havent had any problems other than my entire brake system had to replaced in the spring but it was from moisture ( stored all winter)
that 99 shoudlnt run you more than 5k IMHO. thats alot of miles. why is he selling it?

I wouldn't bother man, there are plenty of good deals out there....I got my 02' v6 auto with 55K miles for $6500.
If you can talk him down a lot and your willing to maybe replace a few things overtime go for it.
The only problem I have with high mileage cars is, you can have a car last for many many miles if you take care of it right, but you have no idea how that guy treated the car, that would be my concern.

I dunno I paid 10k for my 97 six in november.
It is in perfect condition top to bottom.
Came with a mach 460, K&N intake, aftermarket $300 CD player, spoiler, new spark plug wires, new plugs, and a new clutch. The car only had 75 thou miles on it.
I think I should have only paid like 7.5 for it though.
Oh and is this going to be a daily driver??

yea the price is high. i got my 99 with 80k miles on it last october for 5grand. i have had no problems with the car except replacing the alternator when i got it.
edit: after the 05's are out now, you should be paying around 4500 for that 99, maybe less. and that is if it is in perfect condition
